Installation Note 42473: A SAS® 9.2 installation in a z/OS operating environment becomes unresponsive and the metadata stops deploying

While configuring a SAS 9.2 installation under z/OS that deploys large amounts of metadata, a communication error might occur. When this happens, the installation process becomes unresponsive. The SAS® Deployment Wizard stops on the step in which the metadata is deploying. As a result, the metadata server does not consume any CPU, but does respond to other requests such as from SAS® Management Console.

This problem is caused by a problem in "fast local sockets" that was introduced with z/OS V1R12. To date, this problem has occured when customers are installing SAS® IT Resource Management. However, it could also occur with other SAS products or when migrating metadata from SAS 9.1.3.
